Yesterday I went to see Charlie Wilson's War with lan, masa and natalia. The film is about one US congressman Charlie Wilson, how he uses his power, political and diplomatic skills to fight for military funding for Afghanistan refugees against the Russian Soviet union.
First of all I felt very sorry about Natalia because she is russian and the whole film has been nothing but stereo-typing, and evilizing the communism of the soviet union, instigating of the whole anti communism propaganda. In a not very nice way.
However the film has been smartly written, especially the witty script which I found very interesting and somehow deep meaning underneath, what I called the mens talking. It makes me realised how much I have to learn to become a true man, to bear not only ones but others responsibilities, to conquer your own fear, and at the same time bring humor to people around.
Charlie Wilson's War, a film for all those who enjoy witty conversation, bit of political history, and the fans of Tom Hanks.

A day being Wong Kar-Wai

Since when did I start to like Wong's movie? perhars under my brother's influence that I started to enjoy the taste and sense in his movies. The moody lighting, the rather confusing dialoges, the mystery of story line, and especially his taste of music.
My favourite amongst all is 2046, can not explain the reason but perharps I really like the robot Wong Fei, the Japanese influence of style, and the only one story which I claim to fully understand. I always want to portray myself as tony, a man with sadness in the eyes, the humour, the charming smile, and the habbit of smoking; which I reagarded as "the true man", and I see Wong's shadow in this character. However I can never be this man not only I don't agree on smoking, or drinking, but I yet have the depth. Hopefully one day my brother can make a film which can turn me into such person, even for 1 minute.
Life is full of uncertainty and I think Wong's movies somehow carried this message with them. May be one day I will turn into Tony, who knows.
